It’s the YAmazing Race!

The race is OVER! Thanks for playing, everyone! That was fun.

May I start by saying how happy I am to be a Smashing Pumpkin? That is just so very perfect!

If you’ve arrived here from the site of my friend and fellowing pumpkin, Claire LeGrand, you’re on the right track.

The YAmazing Race with MGnificent prizes is a blog hop featuring over 50 debut authors, and prize packs that includes signed books, gift certificates, swag, and more! If you haven’t yet been to The Apocalypsies website, please click here to start from the beginning and read the complete rules.

At this stop, you’re going to learn a little bit about my time travel romance, TIME BETWEEN US, which just came out two weeks ago from Hyperion!

This is a VIDEO STOP, which means that you get to watch a video to get your clue.

Sound fun?

Here we go!

Take a look at the brand new book trailer that the incredibly talented people at Hyperion created for TIME BETWEEN US:

Got your facts? Lock ’em in!
Commit a few of those details to memory, because you’ll need one of them to answer the quiz ahead. And remember, you must complete ALL FOUR quizzes to be eligible for a prize pack.

What’s that? You want to win more stuff?
Well, okay! How about a shiny world travel/writing inspired gift basket? It’s similar to the one I gave away at my launch party, so it will look a lot like this:

click for a closer look

Inside you’ll find:

* A very special signed hard copy of Time Between Us. It’s annotated with music facts and stuffed with surprises along the way!

* An iTunes download of the Time Between Us playlist of your choice (What? You haven’t heard Anna & Bennett’s playlists? Check them out HERE!)

* A Time Between Us coffee mug

* A journal

* A hot-of-the-press Time Between Us T-shirt

* Bookmarks and stickers

Sound like it’s worth playing for?

It’s easy to enter. In the comments below, just tell me this:

If you could time travel — to any destination in the world, at any point within your lifetime — where and when would you go?

That’s it. You can also tell me why if you want to (I love hearing travel stories), but it’s cool if you want to keep it to yourself. I respect the privacy of all time travelers and time traveler wannabes.

If you want additional chances to win, you can also:

* Like my Facebook Page

* Follow me on Twitter

* Add Time Between Us to your Goodreads “to-read” shelf

All four = four entries = more chances to win the Time Between Us gift basket!

This contest is open internationally, and I’ll announce the winner on October 30, after the YAmazing Race victors are crowned.

That’s it!
Thanks for hanging out with me! It was fun to have you here.

Publisher: Hyperion

Anna and Bennett were never supposed to meet: she lives in 1995 Chicago and he lives in 2012 San Francisco. But Bennett’s unique ability to travel through time and space brings him into Anna’s life, and with him, a new world of adventure and possibility.

As their relationship deepens, they face the reality that time might knock Bennett back where he belongs, even as a devastating crisis throws everything they believe into question. Against a ticking clock, Anna and Bennett are forced to ask themselves how far they can push the bounds of fate — and what consequences they can bear in order to stay together.

    Honestly, I wouldn’t want to travel back in time because I wouldn’t want to risk affecting my present and future, even if it meant I could prevent my mom’s suicide. The events in my past have made me who I am and I’m happy with who I am.

  7. mikelandrews says:

    I am a sucker for love stories and doubly a sucker for time travel tales. This actually sucked me right in. Great video.

    What time would I travel to in my life? The not-so-deep answer: The premiere of Ghostbusters. The deeper answer: the day my mom passed away, just before my second year of college. I was on campus trying to get a grant because of my family’s current situation (mom being sick, dad out of work). I had no cell phone or anything. When I got home, she’d just passed away.

    If I could time travel, I would go to London, England in the year 2010. 2010 was the year I graduated from college and I really wanted to visit a different country after graduation. I had England in mind. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to travel because I got accepted into graduate school and had to start immediately. If I have the power to time travel, I would go there now with my Mom and Dad. It would be a late graduation present for me but it doesn’t matter because I’d get to celebrate this huge achievement in my life (graduating from college) with the two people I love the most in my dream destination. 🙂

    I love what Bennett does with his gift! I think I’d do something similar. Since the destination has to be within my own lifetime, I think I’d go back to 90s Seattle to see Nirvana. Or, since I was born in 1989, I’d go to Berlin shortly after the fall of the Wall.
    However, since everyone comments about general time travel, I think I’d also want to go back to the 50s Beat culture, Victorian England (fin-de-siècle decadence), medieval Japan or the roaring twenties. I love history so short of a warzone, I’m not picky ^^ Just somewhere with creative people.

    You pose a hard question! There are loads of places I’d love to travel to-New York, Venice, Egypt, Kenya etc. But I think if I could time travel to a point within my own lifetime I would go back to see my Nan or Grandad one last time and tell them how happy I am now and how much I’m looking forward to my wedding, and to make sure they know how much I love them. I’ve dreamt about it quite a lot.

    Only in my own lifetime? Well, that one is harder. There are many historical events I would love to visit, but since I’m still young, most of them are unfortunately not in my lifetime. I guess I would like to visit New York post 9/11 and see the vibrant city. I’ve never visited NY before, but I’ve been told that it changed slightly after the attack, and I would love to see how it used to be. Other than that, I can only think of something like trying to go and see Nirvana, but I’m not sure if they played any concerts the year I was alive before Kurt Cobain died.

    Your book sounds awesome!

    I’d travel back to Halloween when I was 16, in Maine, when I went trick or treating with my little brother for the last time before he decided he was too old to go trick or treating, and with my boyfriend before he went to college, Then my boyfriend and I got dressed up as vintage zombies, ie I was an undead flapper, he was an undead mob guy, and we went to a friend’s party. It was incredible. Then he and I stayed up all night watching scary ghost movies:)

    I’d go back to then because it was just perfect. I think it was the only time everything was working perfectly and everything was just totally peaceful.

    That’s a really hard question… Maybe I’d just go back to last summer. I had a great time then, and it was my last summer holiday so it would be nice to experience it again, and maybe use the time a little bit better 🙂
    But it would be really cool to go back to when I was really little as well. Miss that time. It went away way too fast…

    My answer is quite sad and maybe melodramatic for others, but I would like to go back to the summer, eight years ago. My travel destination would be my hometown ( I don’t live there anymore, but I don’t want to give more information, I hope that this is okay with you? ).
    I would go back to the day, when I lost two really important people to me. First, I’d try to save them from car accident, maybe keep them at home, I don’t really know. I’d fight to change the past in every possible way…
    [I know that first rule of time travelling is ,,don’t even try to change the past!”, but if you love someone, from family, friends or this Special Person, you don’t think about consequences, right? You think only about ,,how to save them?”, how you can get more precious time together.]
    …and if it would be impossible, I’d like to… say goodbye to them. Hug them with this heart-breaking thought, that this is our last time together.

    To brighten this sad answer, I would like to add, that there is one more place I’d like to go. It’s New York. Time? Even today. I just want to see this town and it’s quite hard to explain why (because of reasons! 🙂 ). It seems so magic to me, I read about NY in books, saw it in the movies and somehow it rooted on my mind.

    ~1800: Ireland, I’d like to have seen my ancestors that left Ireland for Canada, bonus I get to see Ireland.

  128. Oh dear, within my lifetime?! This is totally random, but I’d love to travel back to Pisa anytime in the 2000s. I lived in Italy from 96-99 and we visited Pisa and the Leaning Tower tons of times (one of my fav places to go!) – it used to be open to the public, but then they said nobody was ever allowed to go into it for fear it would be too heavy on the leaning side and one day make it topple. WELL, we found out that just after we left (maybe a year or so?), they re-opened it and now people can go in! It is seriously on my Life List to go back there and finally get into the Leaning Tower haha.

  137. If it’s within my lifetime, I wouldn’t want to travel back in time it’s better not knowing what could have happened in the past and knowing your future can’t be good either.
