Okay, first of all, how did it get to be September? October 9 has seemed so far away for so long, and now… somehow… magically, it’s just around the corner. And I get to say: “I have a book coming out next month!”.
Ahhh, that was nice. May I say it again?
“I have a book coming out next month!”
And boy, is it going to be a busy month, but in the best possible way.
I’ll be doing a lot of writing. I’m just about to dive into another round of revisions on my second book. I still can’t share details, but I promise I will soon!
And this month, finally, after far too many months without it, there will be LIVE MUSIC! I’m going to see one of my favorite bands, Silversun Pickups, at one of my favorite venues with three of my favorite people.
I’ve fallen hard for this song off their latest album, so I’m hoping they’ll play it:
Here We Are
I’m pretty sure we’ll get some Lazy Eye, which is such an incredible song and will be amazing to hear live, but if they play Catch & Release — one of my favorite songs on Bennett’s playlist — I’ll be a goner. I’ll belt out every word and I’ll have no voice the next day, and I won’t care a bit because I’ll be an inspired writer, fed by beautiful music and great lyrics and visions of Anna & Bennett on a picturesque beach in Southeast Asia (wait, did I say too much?). Let’s just say I can’t hear that song without thinking about Chapter 12.
Okay, back to book news:
At the end of the month, we begin a four-week, non-stop series of events. I’m hitting the road on the 28th, bound for the always-fun city of Austin, Texas and the AUSTIN TEEN BOOK FESTIVAL, where I’ll be speaking on this panel:
This is going to be an amazing day. Seriously. Look at this list. If you’re anywhere near Austin, you really should join us!
I’ll also be gearing up to speak and sign books at a bunch of exciting events in October, including San Francisco LitQuake/Teenquake, Wordstock, The NCIBA conference, and the SF/North Bay SCBWI conference. I’m doing some book store visits too, so I might be coming your way. Watch for details.
And then… there’s the launch party, which I’m ridiculously excited about. If you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area, I would love to see you there! Give the invite a click for more information, or to RSVP:
And there’s more fun to come this month. I have some music-related stuff that I’ve been dying to share, fun book news coming up, and more giveaways, so stay tuned for news and updates.
