Happy New Year! And Happy Thanksgiving. I hope your Holidays were amazing. Yeah, I know… I’m a terrible blogger. I don’t mean to be, but when my writing schedule gets heavy (and it has been for months), I have a hard time bringing my fingertips to the keyboard for anything else. I do better on the short-burst stuff, like Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr, so if you hang out in any of those places, you’ll find me posting there a lot more frequently. Come say hi!
But my life is busy and fun, so I thought I’d share what I’ve been up to!
I’m no longer on deadline, because take a look at what I sent to my editor last week:
Yes. This is why I’m tired and my fingers are all cramped up. Also, the reason I owe apologies to a small forest.
I know I’ve been super-secret about what I’m working on. But so many of you have been asking, and I’m just dying to tell you… Yes, this is a sequel to Time Between Us! For nearly two years, we have referred to it as “TBU2”, but now it’s so much more than that, and soon I’ll be able to call by its real name and tell you what it’s about. For now, I can say that Anna & Bennett’s story continues, and I absolutely love where their adventure is taking them next. I hope you do too.
For the moment (very temporarily), I am not spending much time in my writing spaces. But if you’re curious about where I write, pop on over to the fabulous Megan Spooner’s blog. I’m so honored to be the featured guest today on her In Search of the Write Space feature. She’s got the scoop on all the places I go to find inspiration.
Reading Nice Letters
I’m getting so many emails from readers. When they arrive in my inbox, I read them and this smile spreads across my face. I like when that happens.
Anna & Bennett and the rest of these characters are near and dear to my heart, so when you take the time to tell me that you loved their story and that you can’t get them out of your head, I get all giddy. Seriously, it means the world to me. Thank you for reading and telling me that the story had an impact on you. I hoped it would.
My new favorite thing: meeting readers. I’m so honored when a book club makes Time Between Us their monthly read, but when they ask me to come join their discussion… wow. Their questions are insightful and their enthusiasm is nothing short of inspiring! I loved this night with a group of 7th graders at a local mother/daughter book club. We had a blast!
I’ve been visiting bookstores in California over the last few months, but I’ll be traveling outside the state for a number of events in the first half of the year. I just announced that I’ll be at the Tucson Festival of Books (March 9-10) and I’ll be on two panels with some AMAZING authors. Stay tuned for more details and many more events!
Here’s one for the locals! Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Robin Mellom (DITCHED), Corrine Jackson (TOUCHED/IF I LIE), Veronica Rossi, (UNDER THE NEVER SKY/THROUGH THE EVER NIGHT), C.J. Omololu (TRANSCENDENCE), and me at Barnes & Noble in Walnut Creek. We’ll be sharing our love stories and answering your questions about… well, everything! We’re also baking cupcakes, making CDs, and giving stuff away. Trust me. You don’t want to miss this!
Giving Away Books
I love doing giveaways. People who enter are nice and winners are always grateful and kind.
I haven’t done one in a while, but just look at that bottom shelf… Don’t you think it’s time for me to give away some of those audiobooks? Seriously, you want one because it’s narrated by Amy Rubinate and she’s fantastic.
I just posted this on Goodreads. Get in there, Friends (All friends. Open internationally):
That’s it for me! Now it’s time for a walk with Sadie. Isn’t she the most smiley dog? Love her…
